A popular stress management technique which can be self-taught is cognitive behavioural therapy. The concept is simple – change the way that you think to change the way that you behave. Changing the way that you behave can include how you deal with stress. When you find yourself feeling like you are overwhelmed, stop and reorient yourself and remind yourself that you can deal with it and to take it one step at a time.
