Will Over The Counter medicines sort out your problems?
If a change in your diet and/or adding probiotics don’t work, you might want to consider an over the counter laxative. Once again, there are different types of medicines available, which are classified as either stool softeners, osmotic laxatives or stimulant laxatives.
Explain your symptoms and duration of the discomfort to your pharmacist, who will then be able to make a recommendation on the best laxative to use. The above mentioned laxatives will either help soften your stool to make movement easier, or squeeze your intestines to move it along. Laxatives are not a long term solution, and you should seek medical advice if the discomfort continues after using laxatives.
